Faith Is Not A Blank Check

One of my favorite Bible teachers says that, “Faith is like a blank check.” The blank check of faith is there for you fill in your need or desire and use it. I respect that and I respect him, but I would rather think of faith being more like a cashier’s check than a blank regular check.

A cashier’s check is written for a specific amount and for a specific purpose. It is a one-time authorized payment for a one-time need. If faith were a blank check to fill in whatever we wanted, why would we then have to seek God and coordinate with His will. Once we hear and get the OK of faith, we can’t go and use it for something else. We can only use the faith God give us for what is approved and intended.

Faith is issue specific and time specific. Faith is God’s specific promise coming alive in our heart for a specific desire. Faith, the Bible says, comes by hearing, so we cannot hear ‘healing’ and then go out and expect to receive financial blessing. The words of God are supernatural seeds. As seeds are specific, so the promises of God are specific, and the resulting faith is specific – as specific as a cashier’s check.

My Response

This article is reproduced here with my touches so that we can know that even to get a loan from a bank, it is for a specific purpose and we have to keep our word as to what we use the funds for.  God is very good  at handling the business of Heaven at least as well as we do here on Earth.  So I want to commend this article to show us all that the more specific we get with our request, then God can judge the request on its merits and if it lines up with His purposes, before He gives the request the “green light”.

You know, we do the same thing with our kids.  They ask us to go somewhere, let’s say a concert on a school night and it’s over at 9pm.  This may be good if the child is at least in junior high school and up, and nothing else important is going on.  But let’s just change the time of the concert to ending at midnight on a school night.  Probably most of us would give it the “red light”.  It just isn’t wisdom.

Let’s not be so Heavenly minded that we cannot understand God’s dealings with us as His children are very similar to our dealings with our children.

I hope this puts some perspective on why some prayers get answered and some don’t seem to get answered since there wasn’t enough information, or the information negated the wisdom of answering in the affirmative; as in the case “a late night concert on a school night”  will just get a big “No.”

But without Faith, it is impossible to please God; for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

Let’s be daring today and all year. Let’s believe God for BIG THINGS, He loves to go for the Gold (just like we do).  There were many people in West Berlin and East Berlin, Germany from 1961 to 1989 that separated who prayed for the Berlin Wall to come down.  This Wall symbolized the boundary between democracy and Communism during the Cold War.  God is so amazing that yes He loves to answer our prayers no matter how big and impossible.

But a prayer to marry someone else’s husband is not even worth praying because it is against the will of God and the will of the married couple.

So don’t get too bogged down in a couple of unanswered prayers, just Go-For-It!  And see what God will do…

My personal recent example:  A few days ago, my friend is a car salesman who was tied up taking tests for certification for 4 days and was unable to have customers in which to make a sale and have a paycheck.  So I prayed that God would give him a quick and easy customer that would produce a car sale that would earn $400 for the support of his family for this week of working for free.  Sure enough, God answered that 1pm prayer by 7:30pm that same night.

It was a sudden customer who just knew exactly what car they wanted and came in to buy it. Wow– Thank you God for doing what we could not do for ourselves.  God really does love us and loves to show Himself strong on our behalf just because we love Him.

What A Mighty God we serve!

What Do We Control?

Have you ever noticed that you and me — every person — keeps control of their life way too long before we actually admit to ourselves and to God that we cannot control even the next moment.

But we have fooled ourself into thinking that we have that power.

The truth is I can barely control my next thought, word, or deed — and with God I can do a little better.  But without the tools that God has given me to use, even being a Christian won’t change much of our way we look at life on this earth.  And the worst part, we pretty much refuse to look toward the future of our very own death; which could happen any moment with just a simple body malfunction of a heart attack.

Does this sound a little depressing?  Yes, you say.
Well we cannot get over our fears until we face them.

One fear of every person is I am not in control of much.  But that truly is a good place to start.  First, we make a good size mess of our own lives, then we watch our closest relatives do a pretty bang-up job on their lives.  Sometimes, looking at all the mess around us does getting pretty depressing.

Those words I have held onto through some stormy waters of life.

Remember this, we don’t control anything, But God does.
God knows what you fear, what and who you love, and He accepts you as you are, but He sure would like the opportunity to be invited in to help you along your path of life!

I wonder if I had turned over the control reigns a lot sooner how things would be now, don’t you?  So let’s start today.

God, I come to you on bended knee to give myself, my whole life, my health, my family, my relatives, and all my cares to you.
Please take them from me now, and I will let you do all the caring for them without my help.  I refuse to deceive myself into thinking I have helped take care of these things.

God, you are the only ONE big enough to take care of my life, all that concerns me, the whole world, and the entire universe.  Thanks that I can give to you my big laundry list of concerns and let my heart go free from the burden of these things that I am not capable of carrying.

The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saves such as be of a contrite spirit. Psalm 34:18

Personal desperation can jar us out of second hand stories of the power of God.
We need to invite God into our very own lives.
So what are you going to do with all your struggles?

Then the Most Amazing thing happens when we give all our cares to Him–then God begins to turn things around:

1.  By giving you His peace and His power to rise above the problems, cares, etc

2. With the anointing that God empowers you with, you are transformed into a different person — you no longer feel weak, and useless–Because God just loves to transform our wormy self into a butterfly for His kingdom.

3. Then He quietly reveals an answer to you in your heart of how to deal with some of your list.  And your “Faith” is revived.  And your strength is renewed.

4. You go forward with a “Facelift” in your relationship with God, in your faith, and you are encouraged to know God loves you so much that He is personally involved in your life and knows the answers to bring forth your desired results.

Your Ending scripture will be:

Ephesians 3:16-21

vs 16  That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man:

vs 17  That Christ may dwell in your heart by faith; that you, being, rooted and grounded in love

vs 19  To know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God.

vs 20 Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think

vs 21 Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.  Amen

Do you want to live a life that at the end was “your idea of fine”, or even less — OR
Do you want to experience the miraculous of God taking you from faith to faith, and from glory to glory in your personal life and circumstances.

Start today! Call God up on the phone in Prayer. Invite Him to share your day with you so He can bless you. Please start enjoying the journey that God has set before you by inviting Him to be your All in all things concerning you!

In Christ’s love,   Bonnie

Don’t Leave Home without HIM

I want to tell you a story that at first may seem irrelevant to God and God things, but you will be surprised!

A while ago, my husband said that he wants to buy a very inexpensive house, 3 bedroom, 1 bath for $60,000 that has just been rebuilt due to a water heater explosion.  Inside of me, I felt a real indifferent feeling.  Then this statement came, “Well, go do it—without me.”  I was not dreaming of living in that state, nor in a very small house with only one bathroom.  I began to ask God what was so distasteful about the prospect that I would let him go and do it without me.

Then the Lord brought another incident to my mind.  A couple was here in Tulsa, OK attending a bible conference.  After eating dinner at our house, the man made the comment out of the blue; when I get home to Florida, I think I will buy a Toyota pick up truck.  That same distaste went off inside me.

Lately, the Lord has been sending me out on daily journeys with Him.  As I go out, I wonder what the Lord and I will do today? Will it be–encourage the hurting, heal the sick, find a new sweater that is perfect on me, or locate a new ministry headquarters?  But each day is my next adventure with God!

God made it clear to me that the 2 events mentioned above were daily events that humans do without God.  And to God, they are just as distasteful as my husband wanting to buy a house without me or my input.  The man buying a truck just because he could, of course it was going to be a cash purchase.  God was showing me how it feels when people do anything without Him.  It is distasteful to Him just like I experienced on those  2 events.

God was making a point to me that we either do things with Him or we do things withOUT Him.
Without Him:  is called–walking in the flesh.
With Him:  is called–walking in the Spirit.

I called my husband back and said, “Look do you want to buy a house because it is cheap and easy for us to do.  Or would you rather believe God for the house that would have alot more of the things we want.  My husband immediately said I would rather believe God for His good thing than this cheap and easy thing that I can do without God.

My husband said he was basing his decision on the economy at the time and not taking into account the God factor. He immediately changed his attitude and got back into FAITH and he thanked me for the spiritual correction.

Proverbs 14:12 (KJV)
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

This is the whole message of the Bible.  We can live our whole lives with Him or without Him, but anything we do without Him may seem right but it is a “way of death”.  And whatever things we do without Him, when our works are tried with fire they will be burned up.  In other words, they will not profit us in the after life. Likewise, the things we do with Him, when tried by His Holy fire, they will remain as gold, silver, and precious stones to our account in Heaven.

So this exercise of daily journeys is for me to practice walking with God all the time and to do nothing without Him for these reasons:
1.  Anything done without God is a waste of time, money, and energy here on Earth.
2.  Anything done without God will not be rewarded in the next life.
3.  Anything done without God, is done under the curse and not under God’s blessing.
He was either involved or He wasn’t.

On the other hand, I’ve seen God manifest Himself in my affairs when I include Him by Faith.  I have been greatly surprised at what He brings to pass even many days after I do something very simple to the human reason.  I have to testify when God is involved it turns out much better and I am greatly satisfied when I see God involved in my daily doings.  We are always doing and rarely just being.  And I have discovered with God, when I am doing “more being” that is when God is doing “more of the doing”.  And the bottom line, God always does much better than I can do.

If you want to experience success in your affairs, truly live Life and get back home safely then I encourage you, “Don’t leave Home without Him”.

Bringing Glory to God

Bringing glory to God is simply — doing or saying what pleases God.  It isn’t about doing good things, or saying your prayers, or going to church, and many other things that men trust in.  Bringing glory to God is about walking with God continuously and following God’s instructions like Enoch in Gen 5:21-24.

Genesis 5:21-24 (KJV)
21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:
22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

Hebrews 11:5 (KJV)
5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

To think that our lives can be summed up in 4 statements—uh oh–I think most of us have got the first 3 statements accomplished because it is a generic recording of a family lineage, but that 4th statement–that is where most of us don’t make the grade.
The whole message of these two passages of scripture is Enoch walked with God, and God took him to Heaven because Enoch pleased God.
To say it in our everyday style of thought–
God enjoyed his time with Enoch so much that He did not want to be physically separated any longer, so God took him.
For Enoch, there was no difference between Heaven and Earth.  He walked with God on Earth and pleased God on Earth, in the same way he is going to walk with God in Heaven forever.
In every relationship, both parties should strive to please the other.  From there, the relationship can build and grow.  The same is true with God.
Jesus was our greatest example.  The Bible says that Jesus went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, and God was with him.  That means that God hung out with him.  God even said out loud to the crowd, “This is My Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased!”
Jesus taught us by example, he walked with God and pleased God.  The end result was many miracles and many changed lives which ended in a resurrection to live with God forever.

Humans tend to do what pleases self, but when you start thinking about what pleases God; you are on the right track.
There isn’t one person in Heaven that doesn’t do what pleases God.

Challenge yourself starting right now to purpose in your heart to please God.  Pleasing God strengthens the conscience.  Don’t just do something, but do it for a purpose of pleasing God and to bring glory to God in love either by word or deed for others.  Love pleases God.  Love isn’t gushy all the time.  Sometimes Love has to correct people so they don’t get destroyed.  Other times it is soft, or friendly, or caring, or gives instructions where needed.  Love is always lifting others up while pointing to God as the source of the goodness.

Let’s desire to bring glory to God with our lives like Enoch did.  And the same result will be ours when our tour of duty here on Earth has ended.
A free trip to Heaven to live with God forever.
